Rules

Overview

These rules apply across all TheVortex platforms - the Minecraft server, Discord server, and this website. Not knowing the rules is not an excuse. Breaking any of them may result in a mute, kick, ban, or other staff-determined punishment.

Community & Discord Rules

These rules apply across our Discord server and all TheVortex community spaces.

  • Treat staff and fellow members with respect and courtesy at all times.
  • No discrimination of any kind, including racism, homophobia, and sexism. Violations will result in a ban or other appropriate punishment.
  • No harassment. Any form of harassment, once proven, will result in a staff-determined punishment.
  • Only submit support tickets for valid reasons. Abusing the ticket system will result in loss of ticket privileges.
  • No advertising. This includes other servers, guilds, communities, or products of any kind.
  • Label disruptive audio before sharing it. If you share modified voice files or loud sounds in voice or text channels, mark them as loud beforehand.
  • Follow Discord's own rules. You are required to abide by Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
  • Founder decisions are final.
  • Review these rules regularly - they're updated from time to time, and staying informed is your responsibility.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Don't be a dick.

Minecraft Client Rules

These rules apply on TheVortex Minecraft server.

  • No hacked or modified clients. Any client that provides an unfair advantage is banned.
  • No inventory mods or health indicators. You may not use mods that display other players' inventory contents or health.
  • No freecam, x-ray, or any other mod that gives an unfair advantage.
  • No automated macros or scripts. You must be at your keyboard, actively playing.

Approved Clients

The following clients are permitted on TheVortex:

  • Lunar Client
  • Feather Client
  • Badlion Client
  • LabyMod
  • Hyperium
  • Vanilla Minecraft

If your client isn't on this list, assume it's not approved. When in doubt, ask a staff member before using it.

General Server Rules

  • Do not exploit bugs or duplicate items. If you discover a bug or exploit, report it immediately - bug reporters are rewarded.
  • No real-money trading (RMT). You may not trade in-game items or currency for real money outside of the official store.
  • Do not impersonate staff. Pretending to be a staff member in any capacity is a bannable offence.
  • Do not bypass punishments. Evading a ban or mute using an alt account will result in a permanent ban on all accounts.
  • Maintain fair play at all times. Any behaviour intended to gain an unfair advantage over other players is prohibited.
  • No Tardis farming. This specific exploit is explicitly banned.
  • No alt accounts. Playing on multiple accounts is not permitted.
  • No griefing. Do not damage, steal from, or otherwise interfere with builds or property that isn't yours.
  • Protect your belongings. Use private signs or build within your cell. Building with friends is fine, but protect yourself regardless - we are not responsible for items lost to a friend or in an unprotected build.
  • Report cheaters and bugs on Discord, in the appropriate channels or via a support ticket.

Chat Rules

  • English only in public chat.
  • No spam or excessive caps. This includes repeated messages, character spam, and shouting in all caps.
  • Treat all players with respect. Toxic behaviour toward other players will not be tolerated.
  • Do not share others' personal information (doxxing). Sharing another person's private information without their consent is a permanent ban.
  • No advertising or self-promotion. Do not promote other servers, websites, products, or services in chat.
  • No hate speech or threats of any kind.
  • Follow all staff instructions. If a staff member asks you to stop doing something, stop.

Purchases

  • All rank and store purchases are final. No refunds. See our full Terms of Service for details.

Punishments

Punishments are at staff's discretion and scale to the severity and frequency of the offence. Repeated violations result in harsher punishments. Senior staff decisions are final.

If you believe a punishment was applied unfairly, you may submit a ban appeal. If an appeal is denied, you must wait 7 days before submitting another for the same punishment.
