Materials

Materials & Components

Raw resources, crafting components, and the systems built from them: ores, alloys, runes, minions, cargo, and GPS.

Last updated August 2026. Part of the VortexXtra Item Catalog.

Ore Processing Chain

Most metals in VortexXtra follow the same path: Dust → Ingot → Alloy. Dusts (copper, tin, silver, lead, aluminum, zinc, magnesium, iron) are sifted from ore, then smelted into ingots, then combined into alloys like Steel, Bronze, Duralumin, Brass, Damascus Steel, and more, each with its own use further up the crafting chain.

Related processing materials: Sifted Ore, Pure Ore Cluster, Pulverized Ore, Crushed Ore, Silicon, Sulfate, Stone Chunk, Salt, and Carbon (extracted from diamonds, and refinable up through Carbon Chunk, Compressed Carbon, Carbonado, and Synthetic Diamond).

Runes

Magical crafting components used in advanced rituals. Each type channels a different elemental force:

  • Blank, Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Ender, Lightning, Rainbow, Enchantment, Villager

The Enchantment Rune can grant random compatible enchantments, and the Villager Rune resets a villager's trades or profession.

How they're made: all Runes are crafted at the Ritual Altar, not the regular Crafting Altar. The Blank Rune comes first (level 4, Deepslate, Obsidian, and Magical Lump Tier 2), and every other rune builds on top of it or another rune, Air and Earth Runes need a Blank Rune (level 6-7), Fire and Water Runes need an Earth Rune (level 8-9), the Ender Rune needs another Blank Rune (level 10), the Lightning Rune needs an Air and a Water Rune together (level 11), and the Rainbow Rune needs an Ender Rune (level 12). The Enchantment and Villager Runes are made separately later on (level 16 each), using a Lightning Rune and a Fire Rune respectively.

Essences

Higher-tier ritual materials, split into two progression paths:

  • Demonic path: Infernal Essence → Satanic Essence
  • Celestial path: Seraphic Essence → Archangel Essence

These feed into some of the game's most advanced crafting recipes, including gear in the Satanic and Archangel collections.

How they're made: all at the Ritual Altar. Infernal Essence (level 5) needs a Wither Skeleton Skull, Redstone, and an Ender Eye. Seraphic Essence (level 14) needs an Infernal Essence and a Void Ascended Pearl (Unstable). From there, both Archangel Essence and Satanic Essence (level 16 each) need a Seraphic Essence, a Void Ascended Pearl (Stable), and an Eternal Steak, plus either a stack of Plutonium and an Angel Token (Archangel) or a stack of Boosted Uranium and a Demonic Token (Satanic).

Void Ascended Pearls

A rare reward from falling into the void, see the VortexSpawn page for how you can get one. The Unstable version is a ritual crafting ingredient toward Seraphic Essence.

Minions

Placeable automated workers. Each has its own dedicated skull item used to summon it: Sifter, Chopper, Grindstone, Smelter, Panning, Ore Crusher, Compressor, Pressure Chamber, Chunk Miner, Oil Driller, and Refinery. See the Getting Started guide for an overview of what minions do.

How the skulls are made: every minion skull follows the same Crafting Altar recipe, its themed dye color, a Resin Clump, and Infernal Essence, at level 10.

How the placeable minions are made: each minion worker item pairs its skull with an Armor Stand and a couple of themed materials, for example the Sifter Minion needs a 16-Carat Gold Bar and Infernal Essence, the Chopper needs Pale Oak Log and a Satanic Axe, and the Chunk Miner needs an Electric Motor and a Satanic Pickaxe. Most sit around level 10, with Ore Crusher and Compressor at level 15, and Pressure Chamber and Chunk Miner at level 20.

Uranium & Reactor Fuels

A radioactive progression chain used to fuel Chunk Miner Minions and the Nuclear Reactor: Tiny Pile of Uranium → Small Chunk of Uranium → Uranium → Boosted Uranium / Neptunium → Plutonium. Radiation danger increases at each step, handle the higher tiers with proper protection.

How it's refined: 9 Tiny Piles combine into a Small Chunk (level 15), and 4 Small Chunks combine into full Uranium (level 18). From there, Uranium is processed further at machines into the higher tiers.

Cargo System

A full item-logistics system for automatically moving items between machines and storage:

  • Cargo Manager - the central hub controlling the network.
  • Cargo Input / Output / Connector Nodes - pull items in, push items out, and link everything together.
  • Advanced Cargo Output Node - adds configurable filtering and priority-based distribution.
  • Cargo Trash Can - a void disposal point for anything you don't want.
  • Auto Crafter - automatically crafts items using a configured recipe, powered by a Crafting Motor.
  • Hologram Projector - displays custom floating text, useful for labeling your setup.
  • Cargo Memory Core / Motor - core components required to build the network.

How it's built: the Cargo Motor and Memory Core (level 22) are your starting components, crafted from Hardened Glass, Electromagnets, Silver Ingot, and Power Crystal. Everything else in the system, the Manager, Nodes, Trash Can, Crafting Motor, and Auto Crafter, builds on top of those two, generally in the level 22-28 range. The Advanced Cargo Output Node (level 26) upgrades from a regular Cargo Node.

GPS Teleporter System

A multiblock structure for building your own teleport network:

  1. Place a GPS Teleporter Matrix at the center.
  2. Surround it with 8 GPS Teleport Pylons in a ring.
  3. Place a GPS Activation Matrix on top to complete the structure.
  4. Place a GPS Control Panel within 5 blocks to own and configure it.
  5. Use the GPS Marker Tool to set and link waypoints between structures.

How it's made: the Control Panel comes first (level 26, Electromagnet and Advanced Circuit Board), then the Teleport Pylons (level 22, crafted 8 at a time from Zinc Ingot and Glass), then the Teleporter Matrix itself (level 30, built from a Pylon, Electromagnet, and the Control Panel), and finally the Activation Matrix (level 28) to complete the structure. The Marker Tool (level 24) is crafted separately from Lapis Lazuli and a Basic Circuit Board.

Enchant Crystals & Dust

Used in the rod enchanting system:

  • Enchant Crystals (Common through Legendary) - apply a specific enchantment to a rod, higher tiers cost more but are more powerful.
  • Enchant Dust (Common through Legendary) - boosts your chance of a crystal successfully applying.
  • Enchant Eraser - removes a random enchant from a rod, with a small risk of wiping all of them at once.

These aren't crafted at a bench, they're purchased directly with balance, ranging from $50,000 for a Common Crystal up to $10,000,000 for a Legendary one.
