Energy
Energy & Power
Every generator, capacitor, and power component that keeps VortexXtra's electric machines running, plus the nuclear reactor system.
Last updated August 2026. Part of the VortexXtra Item Catalog.
How Power Works
Every electric machine needs to be connected to an energy network to run:
- Energy Regulator - the core of a network, one per network, scans up to 6 blocks in every direction.
- Energy Connector - bridges the regulator out to distant capacitors and generators, placed within 6 blocks of a regulator.
- Energy Capacitors - store power for the network to draw from.
Energy Capacitors
| Capacitor | Storage |
| Small | 128 J |
| Medium | 512 J |
| Big | 1,024 J |
| Large | 8,192 J |
| Carbonado Edged | 65,536 J |
| Energized | 524,288 J |
Generators
| Generator | Output | Fuel |
| Coal Generator | 16 J/s (64 J buffer) | Coal, wood, blaze rods, and similar |
| Advanced Coal Generator | 30 J/s (256 J buffer) | Same fuels as above |
| Lava Generator | 20 J/s (512 J buffer) | Lava buckets |
| Advanced Lava Generator | 40 J/s (1,024 J buffer) | Lava buckets |
| Combustion Generator | 24 J/s (256 J buffer) | Bucket of Fuel or Bucket of Oil |
| Magnesium Generator | 36 J/s (128 J buffer) | Magnesium Salt |
| Bio Reactor | 8 J/s | Organic materials, plants, fungi |
Solar Generators
Only produce power during daylight, unless noted otherwise.
| Generator | Output |
| Solar Generator | 4 J/s |
| Advanced Solar Generator | 16 J/s |
| Carbonado Solar Generator | 64 J/s |
| Energized Solar Generator | 256 J/s during the day, 128 J/s at night (the only one that works at night) |
The Reactor System
The endgame power option, and genuinely dangerous if mismanaged.
- Nuclear Reactor - 500 J/s output, 16,384 J buffer. Fueled by Boosted Uranium, Uranium, Neptunium, or Plutonium (Neptunium and Plutonium produce more Uranium-chain byproducts as they burn). Must sit submerged in a 3x3x3 water cube and requires a steady supply of Reactor Coolant Cells to keep running.
- Nether Star Reactor - 1,024 J/s output, 32,768 J buffer, fueled by Nether Stars. Also requires a 3x3x3 water cube and Nether Ice Coolant Cells. This one withers any nearby unprotected entities while active, so keep your distance or armor up.
- Reactor Access Port - lets automated cargo systems feed fuel and coolant into a reactor and pull byproducts out, without needing to manually open it.
Both reactors will explode if the water cube or the coolant supply runs out. Keep an eye on your coolant stock.
How It's Made
The core network pieces are the cheapest entry point: the Energy Regulator (Silver Ingot, Damascus Steel Ingot, Electric Motor, level 22) and Energy Connector (Carbon, Copper Wire, Redstone Block, level 18).
Capacitors upgrade from one another in a chain, each tier's recipe centers on the capacitor below it:
| Capacitor | Upgrades From | Level |
| Small | (built from scratch, uses an Energy Connector) | 22 |
| Medium | Small | 26 |
| Big | Medium | 28 |
| Large | Big | 32 |
| Carbonado Edged | Large | 38 |
| Energized | Carbonado Edged (plus a Nether Star) | 44 |
Generators are mostly standalone recipes built from ingots, an Electric Motor, and a Heating Coil, the Advanced tier of Coal and Lava Generators each upgrade from their base version. Level requirements run from 22 (Coal Generator) up to 40 (Advanced Lava Generator).
Solar Generators also upgrade one from the next (Advanced from Solar, Carbonado from Advanced, Energized from Carbonado), each needing a Photovoltaic Cell and Aluminum Ingots, plus Redstone Dust, Carbonado, or a Blistering Ingot depending on tier. Level 20-42.
Reactors are late-game, high-cost builds: the Nuclear Reactor (level 45) needs a Blistering Ingot (High), a Carbonado Edged Energy Capacitor, a Cooling Unit, Reinforced Plates, and Lead Ingots. The Nether Star Reactor (level 50) swaps in Boosted Uranium and a real Nether Star for even higher output.
A Few Notes
- Generators need to be placed adjacent to a capacitor or within range of a connector to actually contribute power.
- Solar options are the safest but weakest tier, reactors are the strongest but come with real risk if neglected.
